I took economics. In the first few years the classes were boring and nearly half the kids were failed commerce students. The third and fourth year classes were better but while a good portion of the professors admitted that these models ‘are never perfect’ there was few discussions on how to create a perfect model, or at least try. Yet, at the same time, many of them considered their subject area a science. I never did, and this helps confirm it. Any second year Econ Student would tell you that the price of the coffee should drift to Zero. But here people are paying based on ‘social monitoring’ or something that can’t be explained by an economics model. That’s why I always thought of Economics as and Art not a science. Thanks Brian who emailed this over to me.
